The Mind Reasons, But The Heart Just Knows
You are in a tug-of-war between what your head wants and how your heart wants you to feel. And then you don’t know what to do. Should you be guided by the emotions that arise in you and what the heart knows or should you rationalize the situation slowly?
The truth is that you would do anything to feel happy and free . You would let yourself get carried away without hesitation if you really knew that was what you needed. But you don’t know. You doubt whether your heart will protect you from the possible pain and so your mind tries to resist it. Who should you listen to?
Well, it is wise for your future well-being to listen to both your mind and your heart. Yep, to both. They both have something to tell you. Each has its own unique, special characteristics that it uses to understand and respond to the world.
What your head has to say
When a conflict arises between the heart and the head, many people try to take sides. On the one hand, there are those who think that ratio is superior to feelings because getting carried away with feelings makes us vulnerable. On the other hand, some people think that emotions are essential for us to be able to love others, and love touches people.
In reality, each side is partly right. Humans have both reason and heart, and both are parts of a whole that cannot be separated from each other. Separately, they are dangerous. The mind uses logic but ignores how you feel and the heart can guide you but it can make mistakes if not properly controlled.
If you don’t know what to do, start by listening to your head. First, your mind is responsible for your ability to think, discuss, and reason with your most intimate self. Second , your mind can give you a bit of sanity that you may be missing.
What the heart knows
However, if you can’t find another solution that makes the difference, don’t let your heart become a slave to your thoughts. Remember that logic isn’t always right and acting against your feelings will lead you astray. So it’s good to listen to what your heart has to say.
People may say that the heart is blind, but it is actually the wisest part of the body. Have you ever heard of the saying “ratio ignores what the heart already knows”? The heart knows adrenaline, intuition, misery, love and strength better than anything else. It gives meaning to what you do, even when you think it has no meaning.
Emotions are decisive in the process of reasoning. In fact, they say that feelings chart the path, but the brain chooses the best way to place ourselves on it.
Calmness, listening, caution
Calmness, listening and caution should be your compass. Everything you need to focus and feel better is already within you. You will get to a point where you are okay with anything that confuses you. Plus, you should realize that you can’t predict what’s going to happen to you, but don’t let your decision hurt you before you’ve even made it.
You will find harmony in the midst of the confusion as you listen, prioritize and use your values to take you wherever you want to go. It’s pointless to turn your back on your mind, because you would rush through the situation without any brakes. But neither should you ignore your heart, because that way you will never understand why you went that way in the first place.
