Always put things off until the last minute

Always putting things off until the last minute is simply a way of life for many people. The people who exhibit this type of procrastination are simply incapable of doing their business differently, no matter how hard they try to plan their time properly.

They may manage to get their act together for a few days, but sooner or later they always fall back into the same old patterns. Others tend to always save things until the last minute because it gives them an adrenaline rush.

Those who make a habit of always putting everything off until the last minute live on the edge. Basically there are two types of people who do this. On the one hand, you have the procrastinators. These people compulsively put off important tasks and sometimes don’t even complete them at all.

On the other hand, you have the people who are addicted to the adrenaline boost it gives them. They enjoy the feeling of being short of time.

This behavior inevitably affects their lives. Sometimes it can even have a very negative impact. These people are not always able to get their affairs in order on time and sometimes this can have destructive consequences.

It also makes their lives quite chaotic. Putting everything off until the last minute adds to mental confusion and makes it difficult to make full use of their limited time.

They say that a person is addicted to danger if he deliberately seeks out situations that would endanger his body or peace of mind.

When we talk about people who are addicted to adrenaline, we usually think of people who play extreme sports or have dangerous jobs. However, people who always put off everything until the last minute are also addicted to adrenaline.

These people apparently enjoy living on the edge. They find the risk of being forgotten exciting. For some of them, this behavior is even compulsive. In other words, they just can’t seem to unlearn it. These adrenaline addicts like the feeling that they can maintain control even in extreme situations.

We must emphasize that in these extremely risky situations, the adrenaline boost they get is an important factor. At the same time, this production of adrenaline also causes their bodies to produce more dopamine.

This second fabric gives them a sense of pleasure. When their bodies make dopamine, they really enjoy it. Because of this, these people experience a sense of satisfaction when they deliberately put themselves in risky situations.

The people who procrastinate because they are addicted to the adrenaline rush they get think they work better under deadlines. It also gives them great satisfaction when they manage to overcome these risks.

Procrastinators

There are also people who always put things off until the last minute without getting an adrenaline rush from this. These people have simply developed a habit of deliberately delaying their duties and responsibilities.

They think they have more time than they need to complete their tasks, but choose to do their tasks only when they have just enough time left.

However, with this they also take the risk that they will never finish their tasks. This is what usually happens when they misjudge the time required and end up not being able to complete their cases on time.

People who put things off until the last minute

These people are not necessarily lazy or negligent. They simply develop this kind of behavior and then become so used to it that in principle they can no longer do otherwise. Their procrastination often causes them anxiety, stress and shame.

Nevertheless, they cannot avoid it. When they finally manage to complete something completely, they are often too tired to do anything else. Which makes them postpone their next task until another time. Then the cycle repeats itself.

Procrastinators calculate how much time they will need. They think they’ve figured out exactly where the amount of time they need and the amount of time they have left meet. Meanwhile, they often torment themselves by obsessing over the task yet to be completed.

Usually they don’t lose sight of it. On the contrary, it is constantly going through their minds. Often, however, they want to wait until they are “better able” to fulfill their duties. Ultimately, this perfect moment never comes. Only when their time is up do they finally get to work.

The consequences of this kind of behavior

The consequences of this kind of behavior are negative, it doesn’t matter if the person is doing it because of the adrenaline rush or because he is simply a procrastinator. Sometimes they are unable to fulfill their responsibilities on time and this can wreak havoc on their lives.

In the case of adrenaline addicts, their real problem is a kind of suppressed fear. Risky behavior is a way to disguise unresolved conflicts that cause fear. Danger helps them forget their inner problems.

Many procrastinators, on the other hand, are very insecure people. They fear that all their effort will not be enough and therefore prefer to postpone the things they have to do. This also gives them the perfect excuse for when things don’t work out. “It’s because I did it too quickly and under a lot of pressure,” they say.

A big pile of papers

In either case, this is problematic behavior. Not only does it cause a lot of confusion, but it can also cause other people to lose their trust in these people.

It also reduces the chance that they can perform a task as well as possible. These people are unlikely to be able to perform complex tasks that require continuous effort and consistency.
